Platinum
Platinum may look like white gold, but the appeal of this precious metal is in its incredible durability and its natural, brilliant white sheen that lasts a lifetime.
Metal Make Up
Unlike gold which needs to combined with another metal (as much as 40%) for strength and durability, platinum rings have a much purer makeup. Our custom made platinum bands are made from 95% platinum with just 5% alloy such as ruthenium or palladium.
Durability
Platinum is one of your best choices for durability and longevity because it has such a high density of precious metal. When a platinum band is scratched it loses very little metal so it tends to retain its finish and look longer than a gold wedding band.
Color
Platinum's brilliant white color is natural, so unlike white gold it never needs replating. It does have a tendency to develop a satin-like sheen over months and years of wear however. This is a very desirable look to some, but if you prefer a shiny surface, simply buff it with a soft cloth or have it professionally polished by a jeweler to bring back its original luster.
Hypoallergenic Properties
A small percentage of people will have an allergic reaction when wearing certain metals such as nickel which is commonly used in gold alloys. In these cases platinum is an excellent choice for a wedding band because the metals used so sparingly in combination with platinum are much more hypoallergenic.
